DeHealth: from a Web3 pilot to an AI health assistant in more than 80 countries
DeHealth is a digital health company. Its product is an AI-powered health assistant that keeps a person's medical records in one secure place, explains lab results, reminds about medication and appointments, and helps people prevent disease rather than treat it late. This page tells how the company got here: the problem it set out to solve, the product models it tested, including a Web3 pilot with the DHLT utility token, why that model did not scale, and what the DeHealth app does today.

The problem DeHealth set out to solve
A person's health information is scattered: test results in one clinic, prescriptions in another, wearable data in an app, family history in someone's memory. The person the data concerns usually has the least control over it and the least ability to use it. Disease is detected late, because nobody sees the whole picture.
DeHealth's answer from the start was to build a tool that puts the whole picture in the hands of the individual: one secure health profile, understandable to the person, shareable with a doctor by choice, and used to prevent disease rather than to treat it late.
The product models DeHealth tested
Between 2021 and 2023 the team tested several ways to deliver that idea.
The Web3 pilot (2021-2022)
In 2021-2022 DeHealth tested a decentralised model in which users held their own health data, controlled access to it cryptographically, and could, by separate and voluntary consent, take part in sharing anonymised data with researchers. The DHLT utility token was the unit of account within that model. The pilot reached users across 80 countries and proved the demand for user-controlled health data.
What the pilot showed
The idea was right; the mechanism was not. A token-based model did not scale for a mass-market health product, for reasons inside the model itself:
too few people used crypto wallets: the audience that needs a health app is far larger than the audience comfortable with keys, wallets and tokens;
complexity where users needed simplicity: every extra step between a person and their health data reduced engagement;
regulatory uncertainty around crypto-assets in key markets, which does not sit well with health data, one of the most protected categories of personal data;
dependence on the cryptocurrency market, whose volatility has nothing to do with a person's long-term health.
The team kept what worked, the idea of user-controlled health data, and retired the token.
2023: the move to mobile health technology
In 2023 DeHealth fully moved away from tokenisation and focused on mobile health application technology. That year the company launched its Medical Data Bank, a secure store that grew to more than 17 million health records, and reached 120,000 users. In 2024 DeHealth released the first version of its Super App, bringing records, AI assistance, calendar, reports and fitness into one product, and won “Best Use of AI in Healthcare 2024”. By then the company had received more than 15 international grants and awards.

Security and compliance
Health data is encrypted; the product is built to HIPAA and ISO 27001 requirements and independently audited by Hacken. The app does not require a token, a wallet or a blockchain interaction from the user.
